Poetry in Motion by Alice Mizrachi, 2016 at 160 N. Massanutten St.

Alice Mizrachi is an interdisciplinary artist and educator working in the fields of painting, murals and installation. Her work explores the connections of individuals and community through the dual lens of compassion and empathy.

Poetry in Motion is a snapshot of Mizrachi’s time in Strasburg, where she found a warm and supportive community. The painting is a celebration of family, love and diversity. In it she makes the statement that family is the foundation of community. Elements of her experience here dot the work; the father and son who watched from their window as Mizrachi painted, an owl that she saw perched on a tree one night, and the mother’s blue hair flowing around the family just as the Shenandoah river winds through the valley.
